THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THIS EVENT

‘Privately’ hosted 1 day Bush Craft and Survival events have been growing in popularity as more and more people realise the importance of these skills for all age groups. The idea of these ‘privately’ hosted events, is to give you the opportunity to host/organise an event for your community or circle of friends and family, alongside our team to ensure a like minded group of people can come together on land and get the most out of Rick’s knowledge, skills and experiences in a more intimate group structure.

THE EVENT

We will essentially be covering the basics of bush craft and survival skills. With a focus on the 5 Priorities of Survival. This is an inclusive event for parents and children, encouraging real time connection through as much hands-on practical tasks as possible or participate in.

WHO IS IT FOR?

These events are focussed on building basic knowledge and skills, a great lead up to a longer 3.5 day event, a precursor to hosting additional more advanced 1 day events for the group or just as a standalone. They are a great opportunity to build connection and community. Parents/caregivers are more than encouraged to be hands on and participate alongside their children, while immersed in nature and learning new skills. The event is designed and curated for any skill level, from complete beginners to those with some knowledge and skillset. I will follow the lead of the group and adjust the experience to suit each group as we move through the day.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

We will take the time to get to know each other and connect, whilst I share some of the Bushcraft and Survival Skills I learnt during my time with the Military and as survival instructor.

These skills include an introduction to:

  • Reading the natural environment and learning about the priorities of survival
  • Water collection, filtration and sterilisation
  • Improvised shelter building
  • Creating fire without modern tools such as matches and lighters
  • What we can and can’t trap, harvest and eat when out bush
  • Implementing rescue plans
    Ropes, knots and lashings

There will also be camp fire damper, billy tea provided.

“I look forward to you joining me around the campfire! “

Rick J Petersen.

*Disclaimer: No wildlife or native animals will be trapped or harmed during this event. All snare/trap skills will be practiced for educational emergency scenarios only.
