THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THIS EVENT

From a background in the Military, as a Special Forces Soldier and survival instructor with Norforce, I felt a calling to share with other men, my skills and experience, guiding them in the development and acquisition of both primitive and non-conventional modern approaches to bush craft and survival achieved through an outdoor scenario-based experience. My goal is to bring groups of likeminded men together, who are ready to ‘rise’ to the challenge, break through their perceived limitations and gain the skills required to resourcefully survive and thrive as men and leaders in their lives and community.

THE EVENT

There is more to this event than ‘surviving’ 3.5 days out bush. This is an opportunity to upskill, embrace challenges, step up to the plate and build camaraderie and kinship through shared experience, knowledge and skills with fellow men.

WHO IS IT FOR?

This is for any man of reasonable fitness levels who is focussed on expanding their capabilities in bush craft and survival skills and knowledge. I will follow the lead of the group and tailor the experience to suit the skills and experience for each individual group. You do not have to be a seasoned outdoorsmen to participate in this event, just ready to commit to a weekend of self-development and improvement.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

We will focus on some key skills in bush craft and survival including:

  • Practising and exploring the Internationally recognised “Priorities of Survival”
  • Acquiring potable water from multiple sources
  • Building an improvised shelter, utilising your surroundings, practical knots and lashings and natural cordage
  • Achieving fire through multiple ignition sources
  • Setting and activating an effective trap or snare, along with foraging for edible weeds and bush foods
  • Implementing an effective “Rescue” using taught Emergency Signals
  • Navigation by day and night
  • Self-defence
  • The “Psychology of FEAR” and our personal response mechanisms to fears and phobias

This may prove to be a physically and mentally challenging event for some, so the ability to work as part of a team is essential!

“I look forward to you joining me at my campfire! “

Rick J Petersen.
